STEP is home!

The St. Louis Park Emergency Program (STEP) is in its permanent location at 6809 W. Lake Street, across from the high school football field. Many volunteers searched for the building over seven years and moved STEP three times in the past six years.

STEP is celebrating 35 years serving residents of St. Louis Park and was incorporated as a nonprofit on July 25, 1975. STEP weathered many storms before finding its “rainbow” building. Now STEP is working to fill the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow to purchase the building. The capital campaign is underway and is more than 50% of the way to its goal. Anyone wishing to donate, with a three-year pledge, or a one-time donation can do so by contacting Jackie Olafson.

Summer is also a great time to volunteer since many of the groups who make regular commitments take the summer off. Time slots in the day, evening and weekend are available. Some of the volunteer opportunities can accommodate families with young children. And it’s never been easier. Just check out their volunteer opportunities on STEPslp.org
