Welcome to Children First
In
the spring of 1993, St. Louis Park, Minnesota, began transforming how the
community viewed its young people. Children First was born out of a partnership
among the education, faith, city, health and business communities.
The focus of this partnership?
To encourage everyone in the community to find ways that make sense to them to help in the healthy development of our infants, children and teens. This is done with the positive focus on the "40 Developmental Assets."

St. Louis SParkS
with Children First
A Spark is a special quality,
skill or interest that lights us up and that we are passionate about.
A spark comes from insides of us and we express it, it gives us joy
and energy. Children First encourages everyone to take time to think
about their own Spark and then be a champion or Spark Plug, for someone
else. Reserach shows that young people who know and develop their Sparks,
are more likely to have better school attendance and higher grades and
are more likely to have a sense of purpose. They are also less likely
to use violence or experience depression. Would you like to flame the
Spark of a young person in your life? visit us on facebook at St. Louis
SParkS or go to Search Institute's site: Ignite
Sparks.
40 Assets Art Exhibit - 2010
Enjoy a special exhibit of
40 paintings by 40 local organizations each depicting one of the 40
assets. The paintings were created by 100 artists ages 4 years through
senior citizens. They are on display this summer at City Hall, 5005
Minnetonka Blvd. on the third floor. The project was coordinated by
four Girl Scouts, Ali, Jenna, Kelsey & Mariah, for their Silver
Award. Funding for the project was provided by a grant from the St.
Louis Park Arts & Culture Grant, a collaborative partnership of
the City of St. Louis Park, St. Louis Park Friends of the Arts and the
St. Louis Park Community Foundation. For
more info on the project click on the photo gallery tab to see photos
of the art.
