Asset study conducted with eating disorders patients at Park Nicollet

Asset Champion Shannon Simper-McCartney wondered about the influences that help adolescents grow into mentally healthy and happy individuals. As an Asset Champion from Park Nicollet’s Eating Disorders Institute, she has been trained on the 40 Development Assets. Are the influences different for patients who have eating disorders than it is for the general population?

The Eating Disorders Institute (EDI) is conducting research to compare the two groups. Family members are also being asked to participate. The EDI team hopes to use the results of this study to improve treatment services and facilitate the designing of new programming specifically addressing assets missing from patients’ lives.
