Twenty-two young people were honored on April 28 at St. Louis Park’s 20th Caring Youth Recognition. The event was launched whenRoland and Doris Larson, members of Westwood Lutheran Church, had the idea to recognize young people for their spirit of caring and concern for others at their church.
The recognition was created out of the Larsons‘ lifelong passion for youth ministry and caring. The following year, the event went community wide. It is planned by an ad hoc committee of committed volunteers. To date 388 young people have been honored. The event has been emulated by other communities.
